Your Afternoon Animal Fix + Found Parakeet

If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say what neighborhood you’re from or upload to the PoPville flickr pool with your pets name and neighborhood. I can’t guarantee I’ll get them all posted but I’ll do my best.

Drauglis writes, “Beaver Kit being moved from one lodge to another. Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, Washington. There were three adult beavers swimming around and slapping their tails. The one kit was moved to a lodge near the edge of the ponds, but a few minutes later the (presumed) mother and the kit left that lodge and swam out of sight, headed fro the mouth of the lagoon. I had heard that there was a “tidal anomaly” today (a newscaster’s phrasing) that was going to result in an unusually high tide. I wondered if the animals sensed that this was occurring and thus decided to move the young to a safer place.”

“Maggie Moo and Amos B. Haven of Brightwood take a break in Rock Creek Park.”

After the jump found parakeet in Columbia Heights

“Dear PoP,

A parakeet followed my husband home from the Columbia Heights Giant this morning. Just flew over, perched on his shoulder, and refused to leave. Husband and parakeet are now at our house.”

If its yours or you know who’s it is please have them email me at princeofpetworth(at)gmail

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
