“3423 GRND will open its doors November 6, 2026, at 3423 14th Street NW, introducing an intimate neighborhood bar and kitchen in the community its owners have called home for more than a decade.
GRND brings together the thoughtful drinks and atmosphere of a cocktail bar with the easygoing camaraderie of a neighborhood favorite. At its heart is a simple idea:
good food, well-made drinks, and a welcoming place where people can settle in and feel at home.
“My wife and I have lived in Columbia Heights for over a decade, and we wanted to create a place that reflects what we love about going out in our own neighborhood,” says John Jafari. “Somewhere you can enjoy a great cocktail and a good meal, feel comfortable coming as you are, and get to know the people around you. We’ve been intentional about creating a space we’d want to spend time in ourselves.”
The food menu features artisanal pizzas, shareables, and comfort food classics, offering options for a quick bite, a casual dinner, or a table of friends sharing dishes over drinks. The approach reflects how the owners envision GRND fitting into neighborhood life: an easy stop after work and a comfortable place to spend the evening.
To bring the cocktail program to life, the owners partnered with mixologist Tassia Lacerda. The menu pairs creative touches with an approachable sensibility, including a clarified limoncello martini that highlights the program’s attention to flavor and presentation.
For the owners, GRND is also a personal investment in Columbia Heights. Their vision is to create a gathering place that welcomes longtime residents and new faces alike, with thoughtful service and a familiar atmosphere that gives people a reason to return.
