New Hampshire and Otis Place, NW
“Dear PoPville,
Our neighbors have reported several times about seeing sparks from this pole. And Pepco has never properly taken any action. It finally caught on fire this (Saturday) morning, and was on fire for more than an hour while the fire department waited for Pepco to come to shut off power so they could put out the fire.
According to our neighbors, they contacted Pepco as far back as January 2022 about sparking power lines. Pepco claimed it wasn’t them because they don’t have any electricity lines here. Now the Pepco crew that came to help the fire department has left and we have no update from Pepco about what’s supposed to happen next / what the timeline is to get this fixed.
Pepco is back and they said they’re working on it. No info on how they’re going to prevent this from happening again.
I was talking to a neighbor on Otis who said he’d contacted Pepco within the last year about the sparks as well. Back in January 2022 Pepco did eventually come after our neighbors peppered them with calls and did a minimum amount of work to take down some tree branches and separating some wires but clearly that wasn’t sufficient.

Sunday update: doesn’t look finished to my untrained eyes, we still don’t have Internet, our neighbors report that power is back though”
