“Dear PoPville,
Lots of low-flying air traffic.
So I am up late tonight and I have just heard the third helicopter (or something) fly overhead at 2:15 am. The previous one flew by around 1:30 am, and the first was around midnight or so. I am by the National Cathedral and I am guessing these are going to/from the vicinity of the Naval Observatory.
I am usually not up this late these days (I have put an end to my night owl days) so I don’t know if this happens every night, but all three instances were pretty loud and I think at least one would have awakened me had I been asleep. So is it indeed a nightly occurrence or is something going on?”
Ed. Note: I heard them too and there definitely more than usual (and lower?) starting around 9pm for me. Anyone else hear them? Could you tell what direction they were headed? I felt like they were simply circling around 9pm.
