Kiran Desai is the bestselling author of the novels Hullabaloo in the Guava Orchard and The Inheritance of Loss, which won both the Booker Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Born in India, she came to the United States when she was sixteen and now lives in New York City.
Desai will be in conversation with Aminatta Forna, a novelist, memoirist and essayist. Her novels are Happiness, The Hired Man, The Memory of Love and Ancestor Stones. She is currently at work on a volume about the nature, ecology and history of the East African Rift System. Aminatta is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and was made OBE in the Queen’s 2017 New Year’s Honours list. Aminatta Forna is Director of the Lannan Center at Georgetown University.
