A rough one tonight (Sunday around 10pm.) Violent car crash at W and North Capitol. Driver with VA plates going around 50mph in a 25. Barely hit the brakes for a car stopped, signaling, and waiting to legally turn left. EMS evaluated drivers including the offending suspect, who was seemingly intoxicated.
After that, the suspect calmly took his bag and slowly fled the scene. DCFD tried to have him stay but MPD wasn’t on the scene yet and they had no choice but to let him walk away. The kicker: the vehicle has more than $14,000 in unpaid fines.
This is a regular occurrence, and the community is sick of scofflaw drivers causing carnage in our streets.”
