“As race weekend returns to the nation’s capital, Gallery O on H is inviting Washingtonians to celebrate from a different kind of infield.
On Saturday, August 22, Gallery O on H will host the Not So Grand Prix, a playful, race-inspired event that trades high-performance cars for toy car races, themed cocktails, retro games, and neighborhood revelry.
Beginning at 5:00 PM, guests can compete in the Gallery O Cup:
Pullback Car Racing Series, test their engineering skills in a Lego(ish) Car Building Competition, revisit Retro Console Racing Games, enjoy signature race day cocktails, and take home prizes of questionable value.
Rather than competing with race weekend festivities, the Not So Grand Prix offers a lighthearted alternative that embraces the excitement of the weekend with a healthy dose of humor.
“We’re not trying to recreate race weekend. We just wanted to have a little fun with it. The Not So Grand Prix is about bringing people together, meeting your neighbors, enjoying a cocktail, and not taking yourself too seriously,” said Jon Vehlow, Events Coordinator at Gallery O on H.
Gallery O on H has become known for hosting creative community events that combine art, culture, and neighborhood gathering with an offbeat sense of humor. The Not So Grand Prix continues that tradition by offering an event where friendly competition, conversation, and community take center stage.
Admission is $2.50 at the door. Beer, wine, signature cocktails, and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
