Post Office Problems Persist – 14th Street and Cleveland Park editions

1830 14th Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

The sign at the post office at 1830 14th Street NW says it opens at 9:00 a.m. This is the line at 9:40 a.m. waiting for it to open. And it doesn’t include at least a couple people who have already given up and left.”

“It is stunning that a DC post office takes lunch breaks from 4-5 pm, effectively shortening the day. Small and rural post offices are allowed lunch breaks, but tacking it on at the end of the day seems about as un-service oriented as possible.

This happens from time to time at the Cleveland Park Post Office, and most recently on April 14. The next day-tax day – there was a long line to the door at the opening. Several in line said the Friendship Heights branch had not opened that morning so they came to Cleveland Park to mail their tax returns. The PO sometimes sends replacements, but this shortening the day is problematic.

If this a generalized issue, it might be useful to know.”
