“Marvin Urquhart IV, a much-loved member of Wunder Garten’s team, was murdered while keeping Wunder Garten safe.”

Thanks to Theresa for passing on this incredibly sad fundraiser:

“Dear Colby’s Family,

Some of you might have heard that our community suffered a tragedy on Friday night when Marvin Urquhart IV, a much-loved member of Wunder Garten’s team, was murdered while keeping Wunder Garten safe.

Marvin grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia, where he led his high school football team to a State Championship. His impact there was so profound that his school retired his jersey after he graduated. He later played running back at Virginia Tech before moving to DC after college to begin the next chapter of his life.

By every account, Marvin was deeply loved and deserved a long and healthy life.

As you can imagine, his family is now facing both overwhelming grief and the sudden financial burden that comes with losing someone so unexpectedly.

At moments like this, communities show who they are.

Colby’s is organizing a fundraiser to help support Marvin’s family and assist with funeral expenses, which are estimated to be $6,000. Colby’s will match every dollar contributed by our community. If you would like to support Marvin’s family, please click here to contribute, and we will ensure that every dollar reaches them.

NoMa is a special place. One of the things that has always stood out to me about this neighborhood is the way people come together when others are hurting. It is one of the strongest and most compassionate communities I have encountered anywhere in the DMV.

Thank you for helping support Marvin’s family during this incredibly difficult time.

Gratefully,

Michael Pastreich
