ICYMI: ““Ben’s Reopens on Friday, May 1st…A moment to celebrate! ❤️
There are places you visit, and then there are places that help define a city.

For nearly seven decades, Ben’s Chili Bowl has been part of the heartbeat of Washington, D.C. — a place where stories are shared, history is witnessed, and community is built every single day.

On Friday, May 1st at Noon, Ben’s proudly reopens its doors after nine months of restoration, marking a new chapter during National Small Business Month — and honoring the extraordinary legacy of co-founder Virginia Ali, known lovingly to generations as “Mom.”

Since 1958, Mom has stood as a pillar of strength, grace, and hospitality. Through times of change and challenge, she created more than a restaurant — she created a space where everyone feels seen, welcomed, and valued.

Ben’s has served as a gathering place for leaders and neighbors alike, a late-night refuge, and a symbol of unity on the historic U Street Corridor. Its legacy is woven into the fabric of this city — and into the lives of all who have walked through its doors.

Now, refreshed and restored, that legacy continues.

Join us for this special day:

12:00 PM – Live Go-Go music with Sirius Company Band

1:00 PM – Ribbon Cutting Ceremony honoring Mom

2:00 PM – Celebration continues with live music

Our doors will stay open until 4:00 AM — just like always.

This is more than a reopening. It’s a celebration of resilience, of community, and of a woman whose impact will be felt for generations to come.

We hope to see you there.”
