National Marathon Street Closures on Sat. – Good Luck to all the Runners!

I’m exhausted just reading this – good luck to all the runners! From DDOT:

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has provided the following information about the SunTrust National Marathon and Half Marathon, which are scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011.

In order to facilitate these events there will be no vehicular traffic allowed along the routes of the races. The races are scheduled to begin at approximately 7:00 am; however some street closures will begin as early as 6:00 am. All streets affected by these events are expected to be reopened at approximately 1:30 pm, depending on prevailing conditions. Motorists should expect delays during the races.

Citizens who have issues to be resolved or questions regarding traffic access during the races should call (202) 727-9099 or go to www.nationalmarathon.com.

The marathons will form in front of RFK Stadium. The route of the marathon is as follows:

· West on C Street NE
· West on North Carolina Avenue NE
· South on 13th Street SE at Lincoln Circle
· West on E. Capitol Street SE
· North on 11th Street SE
· West on E. Capitol Street NE

· West on Massachusetts Avenue NE
· West onto outer lane of Columbus Circle NE
· West on E Street NE
· South on 3rd Street NW

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
