From an email:

“Perch Supper Club is a Washington, DC–based dining experience from Chef Sam Molavi and Spencer Launer, created out of a shared love of bringing people together over exceptional food, thoughtful wine, and meaningful community. With each gathering, Perch aims to pair hospitality with purpose — supporting causes close to our hearts.

We couldn’t imagine a more meaningful way to relaunch Perch than in support of Children’s National.

February 25 marks one year since Spencer and Alison’s daughter, Leni, underwent open-heart surgery. Born with a ventricular septal defect (VSD), Leni’s arrival brought immense joy, followed by months of uncertainty.

Reflecting on that year and the care that carried their family through it, Spencer and Alison shared:

“From our very first meeting, the team at Children’s National met us with confidence, compassion, and steady guidance. In the months leading up to and following surgery, we were supported not only by our cardiologists, but also by social workers, family life specialists, and an incredible group of nurses who listened, reassured, and helped our family navigate each step. During one of the most challenging periods of our lives, we never doubted that Leni would come through healthy and strong — and she did. We are forever grateful to Dr. d’Udekem, Dr. Truong, and the entire care team who played such an instrumental role in Leni’s heart journey.

Walking this path opened our eyes to the immense toll that caring for a medically fragile child can take on families. We feel incredibly fortunate that Leni received the care she did, and that her outlook continues to be strong, while knowing that so many children and families are facing even more complex diagnoses and longer journeys. The work the cardiology team does every day for these families is nothing short of extraordinary.”

That experience deepened our commitment to supporting the institution that made Leni’s recovery possible. This supper club is both a celebration of her strength and a way to give back to the teams who care for so many families like ours.

Chef Sam Molavi has led the kitchens of some of DC’s most acclaimed restaurants, including St. Vincent, St. Anselm, Ripple, Compass Rose, and Bibiana, among others. Sam and Spencer first met while working at Ripple and have since shared a passion for creating intimate, memorable dining experiences for friends and family. Danny Fisher of locally based French wine importer, Wine Traditions, will provide pairings from small family owned organic wineries.

A $200 minimum donation is required to attend. All proceeds go to Children’s National.
