“Dear PoPville,

I wanted to inform you of a terrible tragedy that took place at 2501 Porter in Cleveland Park. Yesterday around 2:15pm there was a huge police presence around the front of the building with yellow police tape around part of the front where some of the first-floor patios are.

Residents of the building (including myself) received the attached email (see below.)

Someone asked a police officer what happened and he said a person died while trying to decorate their balcony on a high floor. To be clear— he FELL from his balcony while he was trying to decorate it. I am still in shock that this happened.

I am only writing to you in case this information can possibly serve as a warning to people who live in high-rise buildings to EXERCISE CAUTION when hanging up lights or decorations on their balcony. We are all stunned and horrified at this news. May he rest in peace.”
