5400 block of Colorado Avenue, NW

“On Sunday, March 1, 2026, at approximately 9:39 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to the 5400 block of Colorado Avenue, Northwest, for a report of a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a scooter. Upon arrival, officers located two males who were injured and riding on a single scooter.
DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene, and after all life-saving measures failed, one of the males, an adult, was pronounced dead on the scene. DC Fire and EMS transported the second male, a juvenile, conscious and breathing, to an area hospital for treatment of injuries from the crash. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene on foot. The striking vehicle was left on the scene. MPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is handling this case.
