Sending a note to see if the community has thoughts and ideas for how we can come together to support our young people. For the past three days – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, there have been fights of high schoolers at dismissal time at Upshur/Georgia/Petworth Library area that have overwhelmed the Safe Passage team members and called for a large police response and presence. Given
the pressure we are seeing for law enforcement from the Federal government, it is very concerning for our young people given these escalations.
As you know there was also the Coolidge Football Game fight that escalated and resulted in a cancelled game and unsafe stampedes and law enforcement escalation.
What is going on and how can we as a community assist, besides being “Cop watchers.”
