“Van Leeuwen’s Union Station Scoop Shop Opens this Thursday (7/25)!”

From a press release:

“Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, the NYC born and nationally beloved ice cream brand known for its made-from-scratch dairy and vegan ice cream, is thrilled to announce that its fifth D.C. area location––located at Union Station at 50 Massachusetts Avenue NE––will open on Thursday, July 25.

“We are excited to open our fifth scoop shop in the D.C area,” says Ben Van Leeuwen, co-founder and CEO of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. “Union Station is the perfect, bustling spot for D.C. locals and visitors to grab a scoop of our ice cream on their commute in and out of the city.”

On opening day, guests who visit the store have the opportunity to enter to win a Van Leeuwen keychain that will unlock $2 scoops throughout the summer until Sunday, September 22. Three lucky winners will be chosen, and will be notified via email.

In addition to this exciting giveaway, Van Leeuwen Union Station will also offer $1 scoops between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm on opening day, and the first 100 customers in line will receive a free Van Leeuwen tote bag.

Van Leeuwen is known nationally for creative seasonal flavors with a genuine focus on good ingredients and no unnecessary stuff, and for out-of-the-box limited-edition collaboration flavors such as Hidden Valley Ranch, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, BIGFACE Coffee Affogato in partnership with NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler, and Espresso ice cream in partnership with singer/songwriter Sabrina Carpenter.

The Union Station scoop shop will feature more than 30 signature flavors including its award-winning Vanilla Bean (named best vanilla ice cream by The New York Times/Wirecutter), Honeycomb, Pistachio (made with Pistachios sourced from Mount Etna in Sicily), Marionberry Cheesecake (made with vine-ripened berries from Oregon farm partner Stahlbush Island Farms), Praline Butter Cake and Earl Grey Tea, in addition to sundaes, housemade waffle cones, ice cream sandwiches, root beer floats, milkshakes and pints to-go. Popular vegan flavors that will also be available include Banana Bread Pudding, Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb, Cookies & Cream Caramel Swirl and more.

Van Leeuwen’s loyal following in the DMV has continued to grow following the openings of three D.C. scoop shops (Union Market, Georgetown, and Adams Morgan) in 2023 and its first shop in Northern Virginia (Arlington) this past June.

Stay tuned, as Van Leeuwen will be opening two more D.C. locations by the end of the year.
