Your Afternoon Animal Fix and Found Cat

If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos or news please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say what neighborhood you’re from or upload to the PoPville flickr pool. I can’t guarantee I’ll get them all posted but I’ll do my best.  I’m aware not everyone loves pets.  But they bring me (and others) a lot of pleasure.  It’s cool, hold tight, a new post is coming in a half hour, you can make it!

Info on cat found in Adams Morgan after the jump.

“Dear PoP,

My girlfriend and I found a male light orange tabby in the alley behind the 1400 block of Columbia Road, NW this Monday morning. It definitely does not seem like a stray cat as it was happy to be picked up and petted, however there is no collar on it.

I gave him over to animal control this morning, so if he does have an owner they should call over there. Here is a description:

Male light orange tabby. Young, maybe about a year old. Not neutered and very friendly. He’s got distinct darker orange strips on his tail. He was found Monday afternoon in the ally behind the 1400 block of Columbia Rd. NW He was very frighted and cold when we found him as the only reason we went to pick him up was because he was yowling loudly and we could hear him from my apartment.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
