The GRAMMY-nominated Cathedral Choral Society with Music Director Steven Fox presents Sonic Bloom: Music of Bruckner, Esmail and Gabrieli on March 10 at 4 p.m.
This concert explores the “sonic bloom” — the interplay among monumental architecture and majestic music — within Washington National Cathedral. Trumpets and voices will soar, resounding throughout the palatial arches and ringing in the season of spring.

What’s on the Program
Choral treasures for brass and chorus by Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli are paired with three motets by Anton Bruckner as well as a rare performance of the composer’s Mass No. 2 in E Minor. Also included in the performance is a new commission by American composer Reena Esmail. Exaltations is a set of three interstitial works for double choir and brass quintet, written specifically to fit between the works of the Gabrielis and Bruckner.
