“Dear PoPville,

Writing in for a missed connection – (Sunday, July 2) in the afternoon at the 14th St Trader Joe’s.

I’m a tall brunette (hair in ponytail wearing workout tank and bike shorts) and saw a guy (also tall, brown longer hair, in a tshirt) in the store a couple times.

I walked past him after checking out with my groceries and we made eye contact, I smiled – not sure if anything was there, but if there was, let me know!”

and

“Dear PoPville,

I, 30 something man, was sitting outside The Wonderland Ballroom at 4:57 on July 4, waiting for it to open on Taco Tuesday.

You, a slim woman with long reddish hair who looks like that woman from “Touched By an Angel” walked by and quietly said, “Hi,” without looking at me.

I said “Hi” back and then asked, “Do I know you?”

You halfway turned around and said that I look really familiar but you don’t remember why.

I rattled off a few possibilities: former Wonderland employee, trivia host, softball player, Columbia Heights resident.

You said, “That’s probably it. I have lived in this neighborhood for years.”

I said, “Do you want to hang out later and we can figure it out for sure?”

You chuckled and said, “No, I must go to a party.” and left.

I wonder if you wanted me to try harder. I would understand if you didn’t want to say, “Oh yeah, I just see you around the streets of Columbia Heights and I think you are really hot.”

But I can understand that feeling, and I feel that way about you. So, why don’t we meet up?

Wonderland never opened, presumably because of the holiday. I hope you see this so that I don’t get disappointed twice in one visit to the Wonderland, which totally never happens.”

PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, many have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.
