“Dear PoPville,

Over MLK Weekend, I was sitting in the atrium of the National Portrait Gallery and met a curly, dark-haired woman and we chatted for a minute or two. The polite and curious child with you, L., told me all about the Evel Knievel motorcycle at the Air and Space museum after seeing a sticker on my laptop. You needlessly apologized for him and quipped about how people in Pittsburgh are nicer than in DC (ha!). After NPG, you were heading to the MLK Public Library. If you see this, would you like to stroll through a museum or gallery with me?”

“Tuesday evening post Caps game on the metro at Gallery Place to Columbia Heights.

We exchanged casual glances like blue line passes but I didn’t say anything because I tend to not approach women on the metro. She had curly blonde hair and a cool Caps windbreaker. I was in a green sweatshirt and was carrying a yoga mat. Would love to catch a game sometime.”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, many have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
