Shop the Red Line!

Five Ward 3 neighborhoods have joined together to make it easy to shop local this holiday season!

On December 3 and 10, five neighborhoods adjacent to WMATA’s red line are hosting holiday markets and events, making it easy to shop local and indulge in holiday cheer.

Saturday, December 3:

Start your day in Tenleytown for the Tenley WinterFest Winter Market. Shop more than two dozen local artisans offering unique gifts, jewelry and accessories, home and holiday decor, bath and beauty products, specialty foods, and more.

Enjoy songs of the season as American University a cappella ensemble, On a Sensual Note performs at 1 p.m. Check everyone off your holiday list at the market from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at 4748 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. The Winter Market is part of the 11th annual Tenley WinterFest, produced by Tenleytown Main Street, with free, festive events for all ages November 26 through December 3.

Hop off at the Friendship Heights station to visit Chevy Chase’s Spark! Art Fest and Small Business Party from 3-7 p.m. Enjoy a festive day on Connecticut Ave including an Art Market in collaboration with Ch/Art, business specials and activities for the whole family. Visit participating businesses Park Story, Happy Go Bikes, Artsy Beast, The Avenue, Blue44, Child’s Play, Wine & Organic, Mamma Lucia, Core72, June B Sweet, Avalon Theatre, and Harmonic Music Studios, take a photo with Elsa in the “flurry corner,” and more!

Saturday, December 10:

Starting your day with Van Ness Main Street’s (VNMS) 7th Annual Holiday Pop Up Market! The Market welcomes more than 40 artists and artisans from the entire region from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Enjoy returning favorites plus new, creative shopping opportunities, as well as an Ice Crew Meet and Greet with the Ice Queen, Ice Princess, Ice Prince, and Snow Man. VNMS will also be collecting donations for the Feed the Family Van Ness pantry.

From there take the metro down to Cleveland Park, where the 2nd Cleveland Park Holiday Market will pop up in the Cleveland Park Service Lane (3400 block of Connecticut Avenue NW) from 2-7 p.m. The Celestial Trio will present a selection of traditional holiday music and carols, including the opportunity to pick favorites. Deck the Halls Rasevic Landscape Company brings the holidays to life with distinctive trees, wreaths, and garlands.

Join local sketch comedy legends (in our own minds) Brick Penguin for an evening of live, dark, rip-roaring sketch comedy. See D.C.’s longest-running sketch comedy group do what they do best, when they’re not performing across the country in places such as the terrifying Philadelphia, the gooey Chicago, the M&M Store-y New York City, and the crunchy Seattle.

Now, our last show may or may not have mentioned Taylor Swift, and we may have gotten into some trouble from confused Swifties who thought they scored a $15 ticket to a Taylor Swift concert. So, to apologize and clear up any confusion, we’ve decided to dedicate another show to her. We promise she might or might not appear this time.
