Missed Connection – Mount Vernon Trail (near Navy-Marine Memorial)

“Dear PoPville,

Long shot, but were you riding on the Mount Vernon Trail Sunday (11/6) around noon?

You: An outgoing (and cute!) biker who took a water break on a bench near the Navy-Marine Memorial. Late 20s/early 30s man, black shirt, blonde hair, and piercing yet kind blue eyes.

Me: A shy (and glowing*!) runner who was taking some shots / enjoying the view. Similarly aged woman, blue crop top, kinky-curly brown hair, and a rather charming dimpled smile (if I do say so myself).

You initially stopped your ride to offer to take some photos of me, which I instinctively refused. Appearing rather deflated, but definitely still intrigued, you then asked me how my run was going, and remarked on the brilliant weather. After barely mustering a mumble, I *literally* ran away to avert your intensely warm gaze. *cues Enrqiue Iglesias – Escape*

About 10 secs later, I realized I missed the moment. About 10 mins later, I finally worked up the courage and circled back. My move would have been to ask for a photo, and invite you to join it, but you had already disappeared!

Lesson: MEET THE MOMENT! Life is way too damn short to not go for gold.

*Perspiring profusely trying to keep it cool

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, many have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
