“On Saturday, August 13th, Espita will say farewell and have its final service.” – New Concept Coming August 27th

opened in 2016

Thanks to Johnny and Kristin (and everyone else) for passing on the sad news from Espita:

“Thank you for your years of patronage at Espita. Every restaurant starts out as an idea but is shaped by the community of people that dine and work there over time. On Saturday, August 13th, Espita will say farewell and have its final service.

Come join us this week for one last mezcal, memela, and tlayuda. If you love Espita, you can still find our style of Mexican cuisine and cocktails at Espita’s sister restaurants, Taqueria Las Gemelas and Destino, both in the Union Market District on 4th Street NE.

Taqueria Las Gemelas is our casual taco shop featuring fresh tortillas made daily, the best chorizo in the city, draft margaritas, and $7 mojitos. (Fun fact: Every tortilla and tlayuda you’ve eaten at Espita since March 2021 has been made at Las Gemelas by Yesi and her team.)

Destino is our take on modern Mexican dining, incorporating our culinary background with traditional Mexican flavors and techniques creating something unique and wonderful. It’s everything you liked about Espita but taken up a notch. For all our mezcal friends out there, do not worry. We still carry a wonderful selection of agave spirits (including some gems we just brought back from Oaxaca) and offer one of the finest and most creative Mexican cocktail menus in the region.

The Plan

After Saturday, we remodel. This is not the end of our journey at 1250 9th Street NW, just a pitstop. We’ll be reopening on Saturday, August 27th with a different concept (more info to come soon!).
But what about Ghostburger???

We know. We know… A lot of you are just here for the Burgers and Cheesesteaks. Ghostburger is NOT going away. Even during the dining room remodel. Ghostburger will continue to be available for delivery and takeaway online (added bonus – takeaway sales keep our cooks busy and mean they stay on the clock, so keep those orders coming, folks).
Thank you

Thank you for the years we’ve spent together at Espita, and particularly your support during the pandemic. We’ve learned valuable lessons, had great times, and made such incredible friendships.

See you shortly,

The team from Destination Unknown Restaurants”

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
