Missed Connection – 11th and G Streets NW and Smitten at Compass Coffee

“Dear PoPville,

I was waiting for the S2 bus at 11th and G Streets NW (downtown, Saturday). I struck up a conversation with a woman named Jaclyn (I don’t know the exact spelling) at the bus stop but before I could ask her for her phone number, my bus arrived. I did give her my name and I hope she sees this!”

“I don’t know if this technically counts as a missed connection, but I just saw the most handsome guy at Compass Coffee on 14th and Eye St NW, and I feel like I have to do something about it! This was between 9:30-10:00am today. He was wearing jeans and a navy blazer, had some killer brown eyes, and was sitting at a low table close to the bar in what sounded like a fairly intense professional conversation (which I maybe should have eavesdropped on). He wasn’t wearing a ring, so…taking a flier! Signed, girl in the blue dress who spent too much time thinking about getting his attention but not doing it.”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, many have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made. Last Tuesday’s Storm MC was made!

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
