“Dear PoPville,

Missed Connection: Good Morning, Red Line 6/21

You got on the red line train 2-3 stops south of Ft.Totten around 730/830AM on 7/21 and said “good morning” to the whole car to which absolutely no one responded I found this intriguing so, when you sat down right next to me, I struck up a conversation. We joked about folks being so into their phones they had no idea what was going on around them and chatted for the next several stops. You had great eyes, dark skin, a beard under your mask and told me you worked at DOS. I got off at DuPont and thought I heard you say “we should meet up sometime” as I exited but the doors were already closed behind me. You really brightened my day though – Here’s to going out on a limb (and maybe a date)!”

Thursday: Missed connection to the guy walking his black lab *on crutches.* The guy, not the lab I was biking the opposite direction on S. Carolina SE by Eastern Market around 5pm. Do you need help walking your dog? I’ll do it happily (for free) because being on crutches suuuuuucks.”

“I regret not asking this stunning woman her name on Monday. Our dogs just met at the corner of 3rd and G SE next to Garfield Park on Monday night around 10pm, and she gave my dog (black lab mix) a treat. She was very kind and I don’t know why I didn’t ask her name. I was wearing red shorts. I hope she sees this!”

and

Saturday night after the Night at the Museum, I biked up to Duccini’s Pizza with my buddies. I was sitting on the picnic table (the guy sitting next to the door). Your friend dropped her slice right behind me. RIP. We talked about how your friend tried her best, and you shared your slice. You were wearing a black top and looking (fire) Hello generous pizza-sharing babe! Can I take you out for a slice?”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
