“The One Journey Festival celebrates the talents, contributions, and stories of refugees and other displaced people around the world.”

“Welcome to the One Journey Festival. We hope you are looking forward to a full day of music, dance, storytelling, food, arts & crafts, technology, and so much more. You’ll be taking part in the third national celebration of refugee talents, stories, and accomplishments – on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral.

At this beautiful venue, Festival goers will celebrate, interact, and connect with refugees and their families, and discover ways to get involved in assisting and advocating for refugees globally and locally. One Journey, a grassroots organization, is shifting the narrative about refugees worldwide. We counter hate and fear with compassion, connection, and celebration of the bonds that unite our human family. One Journey’s mission is to build welcoming host communities for refugees and displaced people so both can thrive together.

One Journey was founded in 2017 by Wendy Chan and Vanda Berninger, two American immigrants who wanted to share their positive, welcoming experiences as newcomers with others. Today, the One Journey Festival is an annual event that attracts greater visibility and larger crowds each year. Grassroots volunteers from NGOs, business, multicultural communities, faith communities, government, and academia work tirelessly to make it possible. We invite you to be part of it.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
