Goal! DC Soccer Adds U9 Boys and Girls Teams From Petworth Area to Travel Program

Goal! DC Soccer Club adds U9 for boys and girls in Petworth. Get your kicks!

The city’s largest youth soccer club just got bigger. Beginning this year, DC Soccer Club will offer a travel soccer program for rising U9 players in the Petworth area. Rising under-9-year-olds include boys and girls born in 2014.

All games will be played in Metro region and team leadership will be provided by members of DC Soccer Club’s staff of experienced and motivated coaches. Financial assistance is available.

U9 tryouts will be held May 16 and 18. Details and registration here.

The U9 program joins DC Soccer Clubs’ other travel soccer teams based in D.C. In all, DC Soccer Club helps develop some 6,000 players each year, guiding them to be not only the best athlete they can be but also to become well-rounded people with respect, dedication, and good sportsmanship.

DC Soccer Club has a long history and strong ties to the community, creating viable pathways for young athletes while bringing community members together through the love of soccer.

As a registered nonprofit, DC Soccer provides up to $250,000 a year in financial assistance to players who need it most. DC Soccer is inclusive and welcoming to all young athletes regardless of background or athletic ability.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
