Helluva Way to Come Home “The thermostat blow out caused the radiators to turn to full blast for hours”

Arielle recounts the brutal scene last night:

“Today an @PepcoConnect subcontractor installed the wrong transformer on our block (after handing out notices saying this would be happening in September). It created a power surge and blew out peoples appliances.

At my house,

it blew my newly installed $20K mini split AC system, nest thermostat and two levoit air filters. The thermostat blow out caused the radiators to turn to full blast for hours before I came home. My house is still above 80 degrees and my poor dog is dying.

The contractor has been helpful trying to rectify this but we have appliances out all over the block. I can’t help but wonder HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN.”

DC Public Service Commission says: “We’re aware of a @PepcoConnect transformer power surge in Ward 4 that’s burned out residents’ appliances/devices. We’re working w/@CMLewisGeorgeW4’s office to help affected residents, but anyone needing more assistance can contact us at https://bit.ly/DCPSC-complaint or (202) 626-5120.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
