“Working at Well-Paid Maids Has Felt Like a Breath of Fresh Air”

Before Lexi Grant joined Well-Paid Maids, the 23-year-old D.C. resident worked as a shift leader at Chipotle.

It was a decent job, she explains, but the hours — and people — were unreliable. She found herself working late to cover for those who didn’t show up for shifts.

“Working at Well-Paid Maids has felt like a breath of fresh air,” she says.

Lexi joined the professional home-cleaning company in June 2021 and is a senior cleaner and trainer.

Of course, she appreciates the company’s benefits. Employees — not contractors — earn a living wage of at least $20 an hour, and they have access to insurance, 22 paid days off a year, employer-paid commuting and more. She has a better work/life balance and spends more time with her 1-year-old son.

But, when asked about her favorite part of the job, Lexi says it’s the actual work.

“Our company’s mission is what we stand by,” she says. “People deserve their work to be respected and recognized. When that happens, you love what you do, and you create the best results.”

For Lexi, it’s always exciting to step back and see the end result — a sparkling clean home. She also loves seeing how happy her clients are.

“I know life can be crazy for everyone,” she says. “I’m happy I’m able to help alleviate some stress for them.”
