Capitals Star Alex Ovechkin filming in Kalorama Harris Teeter Sat. Night

“Dear PoP,

I just was at the Harris Teeter on Kalorama and it seems some movie is being filmed. There are forklifts with spotlights on the top floor and equipment all around. Any idea what is going on?”

I’ve been getting lots of inquiries similar to the one above and it seems that, according to a few readers, some sort of filming involving Capitals star Alex Ovechkin is taking place. One reader is fairly certain that that is his car below.

Perhaps it is a new Capital One commercial? Anyone know more details of what’s being filmed at the Harris Teeter at 1631 Kalorama Rd NW?

UPDATE: Ovechkin was definitely filming there. And it turns out it was a Reebok commercial. And it turns out, he is super nice.

“Dear PoP,

17th and Kalorama NW – he was filming upstairs at the old roller rink and shooting pics in the empty retail space below last night. that is his tricked out white mercedes which he came in with his dad.”

and

“Dear PoP,

Yeah he was there and emerged from the rented space below the HT (used to be roller skating rink) around 8:40 last. He had been filming and doing photoshoots for Reebok ads for a few hours. He was nice and signed autographs for me and my wife.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
