Missed Connection – “A Metrocar Named Desire”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, some have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made. The Eastern Market Farmer MC was made!

“Dear PoPville,

Saturday night we both found ourselves on an (almost) empty metro car riding from the airport home. You were in a green flannel, I, an orange dress.

The train car was empty, save our one fellow returning traveler who situated herself a ways away, but you sat on the bench next to mine. We rode in curious silence from Reagan to what turned out to be both our stops, but I couldn’t muster the courage quickly enough to ask your name (and number). I disembarked and walked behind you, but took the first escalator while you kept going to the next across the station. Before it was too late, I glanced over my shoulder to see you doing the same and decided I couldn’t let that trip be the end of this little meet cute.

If this is you and you are single and equally interested–I’d love to introduce myself formally and get to know you over a cup of coffee or glass of wine sometime. Let me know. :)

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
