Adams Morgan PorchFest Returns With 60+ Local Bands on Saturday, Oct. 2

Adams Morgan PorchFest returns on Saturday, Oct. 2 with more than 60 local bands! Nineteen porches, patios and stoops will become stages for the day, drawing music-lovers from around the region into the tree-lined streets and small businesses of Adams Morgan.

Attendees can pick up a music map and wristband at the event headquarters located at the corner of Columbia and Adams Mill Roads NW in BB&T Bank (now Truist) Plaza. Event wristbands are FREE and provide attendees with dozens of discounts at various Adams Morgan businesses.

After stopping by the headquarters, guests can stroll around the neighborhood for nonstop musical performances from 2-6 p.m., enjoy lunch, dinner or drinks at a neighborhood hangout, and shop for unique gifts at local boutiques.

There will be more than 70 performances throughout the afternoon, which include nearly every musical genre, including classic rock, funk, go-go, rap, reggae, blue grass, classical and pop. Each PorchFest location will host up to four 45-minute sets. The full lineup of performers is available at admoporchfest.com.

So that we can best prepare for this safe and fun neighborhood event, your RSVP is requested but not required. Please RSVP here.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
