Missed Connection – James

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, some have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

“Dear PoPville,

I have run into James ( I hope I remember your name!) no less than 10 times in my building. We would run into each other in the elevator, the gym, up on the rooftop, all over the building.

I never built up the courage to exchange information with him, but I promised myself the next time I saw him, I would do so. Well, of course, then I did not run into him again, and I went home to Atlanta for a few months. When I returned, there he was again!

We were both moving. He, out of the building, and me to another unit in our current building. He graciously exchanged the flatbed dolly for the luggage cart I was using, and I was wrapped up in a conversation with someone else when I caught his eye again downstairs. I fear I have missed the opportunity completely since he was preparing to move out of the building.

So James, if you’re out there, know that the awkward Black girl from our NOMA apartment building is looking for you and kicking herself for not being more forward. You are the blonde real estate agent/broker with piercing eyes and a kind smile. I would love to grab a drink or coffee and intentionally bump into each other, maybe outside of our apartment building this time. Even if it was not a romantic connection, please know you kept this pandemic interesting, and I enjoyed all of our brief interactions.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
