Missed Connections – Coffee Bar, Takoda and 5th and K St, NW

“Dear PoPville,

I’d like to submit a missed connection, please:

You: Cute Jay Duplass-type with a nice smile and salt-and-pepper beard fixedly reading something on your kindle at The Coffee Bar on S Street (Saturday, July 3), wearing bike clips and pant straps.

Me: Lady in white jumpsuit and giant sunglasses hoping we could make eye contact. Want to get together and talk coffee, bikes, and books?

“Missed Connection!

Last night (Saturday July 3) I was out at Takoda rooftop and was making tons of flirty eye contact with this cute tall guy in a green shirt and grey vans standing near our group. I didn’t get the courage to start the convo and then my friends grabbed me to head to a different bar, so we didn’t get to chat. If you see this I was the girl with dark hair wearing a white top and jean shorts!”

“I have a missed connection from July 4th around noon on 5th and K NW. I was dogwalking and a little preoccupied but she made a comment on my yellow shirt and we chatted for a few before crossing the street. She’s from Greensburg, PA and seemed really nice!”

Ed. Note: If any of these are you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, some have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made. Our last missed connection was made.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
