  • 3628 Fessenden Street NW — $950,000 — Wakefield
    Open Sun. 1-3 p.m. — Joe Himali
“Perfectly situated on a quiet street steps from the shops and dining of Connecticut Avenue, this lovely, renovated brick terraced home offers bright spaces with style and charm. The main floor is bright and airy with tall ceilings, ample windows and open spaces. The bay window floods the entry area with light, and two beautifully designed closets are functional and aesthetically pleasing with contemporary storage systems and exposed brick. The spacious living area is inviting and open with recessed LED lighting and oak floors, leading through a period archway into the dining room. The dining room is connected to the updated kitchen by doorway and arched pass-through for both easy access and charming detail. The kitchen features granite counters, chef’s gas range with two ovens, stainless steel appliances and access to the lovely patio and gardens. The wooden stair rail and stairs lead to upper level with primary suite, two additional bedrooms, bath and oak floors throughout. The vast primary suite opens to an alcove with a wall of windows. Flanking the alcove are two double-sized contemporary closets with storage systems and exposed brick. The bedroom area offers two additional closets as well. The en suite bath is chicly updated with marble floor and travertine mosaic wall tile. The second bedroom is roomy with southern exposure overlooking the patio and gardens as does the third bedroom. The hall bath offers a full tub, updated tile and bright skylight. The lower level provides bright and beautiful living space. Recessed lighting adds warmth and light, while a carved wooden stair rail adds elegance to the family room. A full bath with porcelain pedestal sink and kitchenette with granite counters allow for potential as an in-law or au pair suite.”

Each unit boasts complete kitchens with dishwasher, stove, and refrigerator as well as washer and dryers and its own Central HVAC. The rear of the property is currently set up as yard space, but with access to the alley could easily become parking. Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
