Missed Connections – U Street Vida, Dupont Safeway and Trader Joe’s on Florida Ave

“Dear PoPville,

Had a missed connection today (Monday) at Vida on U Street:

Him: red tank, probably 6’0/6’1, black, lifting on the third floor
Me: 5’11, red hair, grey stringer with red sports bra and black leggings on the rower

Kept looking at each other but you left before I could catch you.
Want to lift together sometime?”

and

“Dear PoPville,

I was at the Dupont Safeway at approximately 5:30 pm on Sunday, May 16. A guy asked if he wanted to get coffee as I left the store, and I declined because I was a tad out of it. Probably should have said yes.

I walked down 17th with my groceries and he scootered off across Corcoran.

Me: Man in late 20s, purple sweatshirt, glasses, black mask.

You: Man standing near the bike rack outside Safeway”

and

“Dear PoPville,

I (F30s) had a potential missed connection Sunday, 5/16 around 1:30pm at Trader Joe’s on Florida Ave. The store was pretty busy and I ended up bumping into a guy in the aisle. I said “excuse me” and we briefly made eye contact. Coincidentally, I ended up in the long line behind him (it was wrapped around to the opposite side of the store) and noticed he kept glancing back at me a few times like he wanted to speak. I had been running errands all day and was dressed pretty frumpy and, admittedly, was a little embarrassed to make direct eye contact back. I didn’t see him after checking out and wished we could have actually spoken! Not sure if I was misreading things but thought it was worth a shot!”

Ed. Note: If any of these are you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, some have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
