Missed Connections – Trader Joe’s, Kramers, Lincoln Memorial and Columbia Road

“Dear PoPville,

On sunday, i was making my typical trader joe’s run for the week. Usually i go to the one on Florida, but i found myself in capitol hill and figured i’d head to the Pennsylvania Ave one. thank goodness i did! As i reached for the often discontinued peanut butter jo jos, I glanced over to see a tall, perfectly built brunette in a neutral t shirt and athletic shorts. he was kind and patient as i made my way over and perused the ready to bake burritos and freshly made wraps. he waited his turn as i looked back and smiled, wanting to comment on his cool fish or shark tattoo on his forearm. i clammed up like the sea, afraid of making a fool of myself. after we both left the isle, he headed to wait in the line as i made my way to the seasoning section. we made eye contact one last time, and i never saw him again.

help me find this missed connection? I’m a 5ft 6 thic brunette looking to buy him a cup of coffee!”

“Dear PoPville,

Earlier today (Thursday) at around 6:30 or after, as my friend and I were walking from the back of Kramers into our table at the outside dining area of All Day, I noticed this really cute guy who smiled at me (he happened to be unmasked) as we made eye contact. He was sitting alone with a drink, and the way he was sharply dressed, probably just finished a day at work.

I still had my mask on so unfortunately I couldn’t smile back, but when my friend and I got seated, I hoped to make eye contact again so that I could properly return the smile! I even changed seats and sat next to my friend (instead of across from him) at our table so I had a direct view and was easy to spot, but alas it didn’t happen! He left before I could walk over to him.

I don’t know if it could still happen…maybe it was just a random smile?

But I also realize that I was with an even taller guy, so it might not have been obvious that he was my friend and not like, my boyfriend.

So, if you’re reading this…if you actually did smile at the woman in glasses with long black hair and a red dress, AND are single and ready to mingle, then, maybe we can meet again. I can even show you my smile and ask for your name :)”

“Dear PoPville,

“We were sitting near each other at the back of the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday night (May 13th) between 7 and 8pm while graduates were taking pictures and popping champagne. We both read for a while and then struck up a conversation about your attempt to get a long exposure shot of the sunset! I was in a grey sweatshirt and black jean jacket with red/blonde hair, and you were in athletic clothes.

We said bye before I left, and I wish I would have asked you to grab a drink or at least your name! If there’s any chance you’re seeing this, let me know if you want to grab some champagne of our own sometime!”

“Dear PoPville,

On Thursday evening around 5:45 pm I (woman wearing a pink shirt and tennis shoes) was walking on the 600 block of Columbia Rd and saw a dog. I smiled at the dog, you (tall man with strawberry blonde hair) smiled at me, I swooned. Any interest in walking your very cute dog together?”

Ed. Note: If any of these are you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, some have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
