“DC Health Announces Vaccination Options for DC Residents 12 and Older”

From the Mayor’s Office:

“Today, DC Health announced that on Thursday, May 13, DC residents who are 12-15 years old can begin getting vaccinated at walk-up sites, hospitals, health centers, and pharmacies across DC that administer the Pfizer vaccine. Earlier this week, the FDA extended the Emergency Use Authorization for Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 Vaccine to ages 12 and older and today the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended the Pfizer vaccine for use in adolescents 12-15 years of age.

Beginning tomorrow, residents aged 12 and older can get vaccinated at the following District walk-up sites whenever they are open:

Safeway, CVS, and Walgreens pharmacies that are using the Pfizer vaccine can also vaccinate those 12 years old and older.

In addition to these walk-up sites and pharmacies using Pfizer vaccine, families can still register their children 12 years old and older for a vaccination appointment through Children’s National or by scheduling an appointment with George Washington University Hospital, Howard University Hospital, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, One Medical sites, and federally qualified health centers.

If a child has complex medical needs or has severe allergies, parents and guardians should consult with their child’s pediatrician for a recommendation to receive the vaccine in a medical facility.

At this time, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is the only vaccine with authorization for persons aged 12 and older.

Individuals using other providers should check with the provider regarding vaccine consent for minors. DC Health has provided age appropriate fact sheets to providers if their policy is to allow consent for minors.

For more information about the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, see the fact sheet for providers and the fact sheet for recipients and caregivers.”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
