DC Open House List for This Weekend

2021 has brought a lot of change to the District already and this week brought one of the biggest changes. In typical DMV fashion, a new administration means an influx of new residents as well as others skipping town and amongst all these changes there’s one thing that hasn’t changed — the DMV real estate market. With 230+ open houses in the District this weekend, throw on your jacket and mask and get to finding your next home! Make sure your agent has a strategy to keep you safe while searching for your next home. To see the full Open House List, click here.

    Open Sun. 12-2 p.m. — Fernando Garcia
“At the Petworth edge of Columbia Heights, this 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath condo offers a genuine mid-20th Century aesthetic as vibrant as ever. The exposed ductwork, 11-foot ceilings, walls of windows and polished-concrete floors illustrate the building’s integrity, while the new appliances and conveniences — double gas oven with convection cooking, walk-in closet with Elfa organizer, bamboo flooring in the bedroom, and so much more — showcase a home’s comforts. More practically, consider the newer appliances, the *very* new HVAC, garage parking and fitness room. Or, for inspiration, visit the rooftop deck for sweeping views of the nation’s capital. Back at street level, take in some of the city’s best venues, from bagels across the street at Call Your Mother, fabulous Filipino offerings at Bad Saint, or get Georgian — *khachapuri*, not collards — on Georgia Avenue with Tabla by Supra. At Lamont Street Lofts, Unit 20 brings it all together with an affordable-yet-authentic midcentury aesthetic and outstanding location, along with all the comforts and convenience you crave.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
