Real Estate Fresh Finds is a weekly selection of newly-listed properties in the District, brought to you by Real Living At Home.
Featured Property of the Week: 8216 W Beach Drive NW
“This home’s position offers privacy and access to nature via the large architectural windows which brings the outdoors in, a Mid-Century Modern principle. Walkability to Rock Creek Shopping Center just a block away! There are not many locations in the city where you get over 4,000 square feet spread across 2 spacious floors, a garage, and almost 1/5th of an acre adjacent to a national park. The main level has 2 distinct wings adjoined by the foyer. On 1 side is a large living room with a fireplace as its centerpiece, a dining room ready to host, a chef’s kitchen with a wolf gas range, a double oven, a pantry, solid wood cabinets and new quartz countertops. Off the kitchen is a large eat-in kitchen and space for your home office. On the other side of the home is the sleeping wing with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. All 3 bedrooms are spacious. Storage challenges will be a thing of the past with 8 closets on this wing of the home!”
“The lower level has a large rec room with multiple zones for relaxing, playing, working from home, connecting, home schooling and entertaining. Also off this space is a second fireplace, a laundry center, and a kitchenette saving you a trip upstairs when you want a drink or a snack. On this floor is the 4th bedroom with a luxurious bathroom that has both a standup shower and an imported Italian soaking tub. A mud room, 2 more large closets and a 2 car garage complete this home. The backyard is fenced with an extensive slate patio, a brick oven and a flat green yard with professionally landscaped flower beds. Minutes from downtown D.C., Bethesda and downtown Silver Spring. Walk to shops, restaurants, serene trails of Rock Creek Park and the Purple Line’s upcoming Laytonsville Station.”
Other Notable Fresh Listings:
- The Most Expensive Home of the Week is a 7 BR/4 FB/2 HB semi-detached Georgetown rowhome with 4 levels listed at a fairly reasonable (compared to previous Most Expensive) for $3.7M.
- 4 BR/2.5 BA detached Art Deco Brightwood home built in the 1930’s boasts quite the prolific history via a 2015 Washington Post article citing a 1935 WashPo ad describing the listing “Thousands of people visiting a home in two short weeks — that’s phenomenal. But no wonder — the home is phenomenal — it’s air conditioning.”
- Hill East 1 BR unit at Cambridge Row, a boutique condo building that’s only 6 years young.
- Your Auction Property of the Week is a teardown in NE that seems to have some tenant issues so not only do you have to renovate or demolish, but you’ve got to evict the current (un-leased) inhabitants too.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
