Edmund Burke School Virtual Open House November 7

Join the “Virtual Open House” for middle school and high school on Saturday, November 7, to introduce prospective students to Washington’s Edmund Burke School.

The 52-year-old preparatory school offers a close-knit, welcoming culture with progressive academics that give students the tools to advocate for themselves and for others.

Located in Northwest Washington, convenient to the Van Ness-UDC Metro station, the independent, nonprofit Edmund Burke School boasts a co-ed campus of 300 students and 50 faculty members. The diverse community enjoys a supportive environment by faculty and staff as students develop the skills and critical thinking required to be responsible citizens and community leaders.

Whether remote or on their Connecticut Avenue campus, Burke students enjoy hands-on projects, independent studies and civic engagement curricula that prepares them for success at the university level. Beyond the rigorous academics, Burke helps students flourish in the arts — including theater, visual arts, dance and music — and athletics, from soccer and cross country to softball and volleyball to basketball and golf, among other sports (including Ultimate Frisbee).

Burke is a member of the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference, with swimming competing in the Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swimming and Diving League.

Edmund Burke School has been committed to equity, inclusion, and service in the nation’s capital for more than 50 years.

The Virtual Open House takes place for grades 6 to 8 at 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, November 7; the open house for grades 9 to 12 begins at 1 p.m. and goes until 3:30 p.m. Register to begin the admissions process or to learn more.

Edmund Burke School is located at 4101 Connecticut Avenue, NW. Call 202-362-8882 or email at [email protected]; admissions phone is 202-357-7670. During non-pandemic times, there are morning shuttle buses from Arlington and Alexandria.

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
