“Beginning today – Friday, September 25th – Daikaya Ramen Shop 1F (705 6th Street, NW) is launching their new online konbini (mini market) ’11-7 at Daikaya’ offering an eclectic assortment of Japanese goods, beverages, and bites perfect for stocking the pantry at home. The name ’11-7 at Daikaya’ is a reflection of the times customers can place their orders online at the market. All of the featured items at the convenience store will be available for order online with scheduled pickups available at Daikaya.

In addition to the mini market offering a wide variety of popular Japanese products ranging from Daikaya Group-branded goods, beverages, snacks, candy, specialty flour, rice, Japanese bread from resident Pastry Chef Mary Mendoza, instant soups/noodles, sauces, and spices, the market will also feature a rotating assortment of freshly prepared foods from Chef Katsuya Fukushima and team including bento, a selection of onigiri, spam musubi, a variety of sandwiches/sandos – tuna, egg, katsu, amongst other crave-worthy options. Plans are also in the works for the mini market to add some alcohol selections ranging from sake, beer, and cocktails.

“Daikaya ramen shop 1F’s design was inspired by the many ramen shops that we have had the pleasure of experiencing over the years featuring crowded, but cozy, and convivial spaces”, said Executive Chef and Daikaya Group partner Katsuya Fukushima. “In response to COVID-19 and the restrictions placed on the dining community throughout the District, Daikaya was left with very small amount of seating after social distancing was factored into our seating layout and as a result we made the hard decision to close the space to any dine-in options. While our sister restaurants Daikaya The Izakaya 2F, Haikan, and Hatoba pivoted to hybrids offering limited dine-in services, online orders for takeout, and delivery, Daikaya Ramen Shop 1F became a space strictly offering takeout and delivery orders. But since there was still space available at Daikaya 1F, we decided we wanted to go ahead and utilize it in a way that made sense for us and our customers. We are all big fans of Lawson and 7-ELEVEN’s throughout Japan and with very few Asian markets in the District we wanted to be able to offer basic Japanese groceries as well as creative and delicious snack items.”

’11-7 at Daikaya’ will be open Wednesday through Sunday (Closed Monday + Tuesday). Ordering will begin at 11am, and orders placed will be ready within a two-hour window with the first available pick-up at 1pm. The last available time to order from the market will be 7pm.
