Real Estate Fresh Finds: August 26

Real Estate Fresh Finds is a weekly selection of newly-listed properties in the District, brought to you by Real Living At Home.

Featured Property of the Week: 627 8th Street NE

“Welcome to this stunning, completely renovated from top to bottom, gorgeous home in the popular Capitol Hill/H Street Corridor. From the moment you step into this home, you will notice the modern finishes while keeping the integrity of this historic victorian alive. The sophisticated open-concept of the first level provides a large area for all types of gatherings and the Edwardian style fireplace will keep you warm in the cold winter nights. The chef’s kitchen is truly remarkable and is 100% new construction as it was renovated down to the bricks as well as the subfloor. It includes marble countertops, a commercial-grade gas stove, and a custom range hood cover.”

“The lower level was previously unfinished space but now has a brand new full bathroom and a kitchenette with red onyx countertops. The upper-level bathroom was also gut-renovated and now boasts Carrera marble floors and a custom-designed shower. So many details and finishes have been added to this home that you would need to visit in person to see them for yourself. And if that wasn’t enough, the walk score for this home is 94! Yes, you can walk to public transportation, Whole Foods, Union Market, gyms, Union Station and countless restaurants with little effort.  You definitely don’t want to miss out on this place!”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
