J Linea on 8th Street in Shaw opened this summer offering high-design, studio, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments with loft-style options and penthouses with next level finishes.

Many apartments feature balconies to extend outdoor space with a few select residences showcasing oversized 300 sq. ft. terraces. The building is crowned with a rooftop terrace amenity for entertaining and unwinding with a fire pit, lounge seating, whimsical swing chairs, oversized outdoor flat screen, grilling stations and of course stunning views of the city skyline.

Additional amenities include a 24/7 concierge, fitness center with leading edge equipment, co-working booths with coffee bar, and a top floor lounge with billiards and fireplace.

These stylish apartments have floor-to-ceiling windows to bring in natural sunlight and offer sophisticated finishes including flat front cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, quartz counters, pantry, islands and sleek plank flooring. Thoughtful touches include built-in desks to make working from home more productive, cove lighting in the bedrooms, unique barn doors and custom closet organizers.

For the eco-conscious, the building is smoke-free, offers bike storage and EV charging stations in the garage, and has a lush green roof.

This urban haven has a quirky sense of playfulness in the details that reflects the eclectic Shaw neighborhood. With a 98 Walkscore, J Linea is walking distance to, well, just about everything, including the 9:30 Club, Howard Theatre, Whole Foods, Shaw-Howard Metro green and yellow lines, and many of the city’s indie boutiques, cafes, restaurants and nightlife.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
