The majestic Washington National Cathedral presents a virtual Fourth of July concert featuring mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, contemporary Christian singer Michael W. Smith, former Senator Elizabeth Dole, and others, accompanied by the President’s Own United States Marine Orchestra.
The hour-long Independence Day Online Concert and Tribute is free, open to the public and begins at 11 a.m.
The program includes recognition to COVID-19 first responders, health care workers and others who rise to meet the challenge of keeping the public safe during the pandemic.
Participants for the celebration obtain an exclusive pass to this concert by filling in contact information here. On July 4, a link to view the concert will arrive. Participants are encouraged to share the link with friends and family.
With regional leaders recommending stay-at-home plans for celebrating the Fourth, the virtual, star-studded concert from the National Cathedral is an ideal way to recognize the character of the nation and the resilient, compassionate values that make America strong.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
