From MPD last night:

“Earlier today, members of the Fifth District Crime Suppression Unit (CST) were conducting focused enforcement in the 1100 block of 21st Street, NE. While engaged in those enforcement efforts, CST officers recovered FIVE separate weapons stashed in the area. Although no arrests were immediately made, forensic examination of the firearms will be conducted and the investigation remains open. Weapons recovered from the location are as follows:

1) .9mm semi-automatic handgun with an 80% lower (ghost gun) and a Glock slide loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.
2) Sig Sauer P229 .40 Caliber loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition. This gun was found to have been stolen out of La Plata, Maryland.
3) Glock 21 .45 Caliber loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.
4) .40 Caliber semi-automatic handgun with an 80% lower (ghost gun) and a Glock slide loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition.
5) Taurus PT 111 Pro .9mm loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.

This is another fine example of the diligence and commitment 5D CST officers have in their daily quest to keep illegal guns off the street and out of the hands of criminals.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
