More Details on the Western Market Food Hall – Restaurant from the folks Behind Mount Pleasant Masterpiece Elle, Shouk, and Lobster Rolls to join Bindaas, Duke’s Grocery, Paul, Captain Cookie & the Milkman, and Chipotle.

From a press release:

“Westbrook Partners and MRP Realty (MRP), developers and managers of commercial, residential, mixed-use, and industrial real estate across the Mid-Atlantic region, along with Baltimore-based Cana Development (CANAdev), food and retail asset management experts, announce details on Western Market, the new food hall that will transform the location of the original marketplace at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, DC, a neighborhood steeped in history.

The name “Western Market” can be traced back to 1802, when a vibrant marketplace existed across from the current location of 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue, a dynamic and historic site in the District. This marketplace was constructed as one of three original markets in Architect Pierre L’Enfant’s blueprint for Washington, DC. Located in the heart of the Foggy Bottom neighborhood adjacent to George Washington University, the transformed Western Market development will serve as a culinary destination for the DC community.

The following businesses will be added to Western Market’s lineup of innovative dining concepts and restaurants:

Elle: The founders of one of DC’s top-rated restaurants will introduce their second concept under a new name. The all-day space will include a selection of beloved menu items from Elle, along with new fare for Western Market. The new location will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls: Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls is a fast-casual concept, serving authentic, simply-prepared lobster rolls since the 2014 opening of their flagship in Annapolis, Maryland.

Shouk: Shouk is a fast-casual concept born of the markets and street foods of Israel. Voted Washington, D.C.’s Best Fast Casual Restaurant, the menu celebrates vegetables, legumes and grains with items like pitas, bowls and salads. Western Market will be home to Shouk’s third location, featuring a menu focused on the “Best Of” Shouk, with dishes like the award-winning Shouk Burger, innovative shawarma and falafel.

The new marketplace tenants will join the existing lineup of dining concepts at 2000 Penn, including Bindaas, Duke’s Grocery, Paul, Captain Cookie & the Milkman, and Chipotle.

These new tenants will add to Western Market’s existing lineup of mixed-use space including dining, retail and office space –all thoughtfully designed with nods to the development’s history and modern-day community in mind. Other design features include a new entrance on 21st Street, allowing easier street access, as well as a reconstructed interior concourse, and outdoor seating.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
