Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

If you’re looking for a cat who will fill your heart – and lap! – look no further than Zim! He’s long, lean, and tall, a gentle giant with a lot of fluff. Zim is a happy boy and loves everyone he meets, both human and feline. He has a winning personality and is relaxed, confident, and loving. Zim is also quite the looker, a handsome tabby with a soft gray coat and striking green eyes. He is declawed. With a good temperament, head-turning looks, and an easy-going nature, Zim has so much to recommend him. We think he would do well in a home with kids or other cats but would be just as content with one special person to curl up with. Can you give Zim the one thing he lacks–a home to call his own? Come meet Zim soon! To learn more about how to adopt Zim through Fancy Cats Rescue, click here.

Meet Radar. This adorable little pup with the incredible ears was found running as a stray and brought into one of our vet partners for help in locating his family. He was not neutered or microchipped, so not likely a rescue dog. Our vet reached out to see if we could take him in, and thankfully one of the staff members offered to foster him. Radar is being fostered with two human parents, two dogs under 25lbs and two cats, and does well with every member of the family.

His foster mom, Kendal, says he’s been fun to foster and describes him as a very sweet boy with lots of energy who loves to play. Radar is very adaptable and had very little issue making himself at home. He’s good with the two dogs in his foster home, but at times can be annoying to their older dog. Radar has a lot of puppy energy and would be best paired with another young, playful dog. He loves the cats and is very respectful of them. He will play with the kitties as long as they will let him, and when they are tired, he leaves them alone. Radar loves being outside in the backyard and will run laps with the other dogs and chew on sticks. He’s a young pup who needs toys to entertain him – ropes, bones, and squeaky toys are all fun in his book.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
