Join Washington Episcopal School’s Admission Open House January 25

Parents, if you’re exploring educational opportunities for your child, Washington Episcopal School (WES) is having an Admission Open House on Saturday, January 25, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

You’ll get the chance to learn more about the school while your children get a taste of the WES educational experience with hands-on activities.

Located just across the city line in Bethesda, Maryland, WES is an independent, co-ed, day school for children in Nursery through Grade 8. WES’s motto is “kind, confident, and prepared,” and its small, intimate class sizes nurture and foster a friendly and welcoming community.

It has an experiential approach to education, and the curriculum includes a rigorous STEM and Innovation program; math coursework that advances to algebra and geometry; French or Spanish starting in pre-K with Latin beginning in Middle School; biweekly art and music classes for all ages that incorporate art history; and the highlight — extensive field trips that conclude with class trips to Utah, Italy, Spain and France during your child’s Middle School years.

Hailing from the Episcopalian tradition, but serving students of all faiths, WES also offers weekly religion classes and chapel where students develop their character and leadership skills.

A third of its students are students of color; WES is also home to many international families. Twenty-five percent of their students have foreign citizenship or are first-generation U.S. citizens.

Its competitively priced nursery school offers a thematic, play-based curriculum, with daily mathematics, language arts, and social studies work, as well as art, music, P.E. and science classes twice a week. The students visit a local farm, the National Zoo, Imagination Stage and Brookside Gardens throughout the year.

WES has a robust financial aid, and approximately 30% of students receive financial aid.

If you’re looking for an independent school experience where your child can stand out without burning out, WES would love to see you at their upcoming Open House. RSVP.

This rental is located at 3345 18th near Monroe. The Craigslist ad says:

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
