What the Hell Went Down This Weekend? 10:20am Saturday Shooting Homicide in Brentwood; Shots Fired in Shaw; 10-11 year old sought in a robbery investigation in Columbia Heights

From MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, December 14, 2019, in the 1000 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast.

At approximately 10:20 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 19 year-old Daquan Hankins, of Northeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

From MPD sent at 7pm on Saturday:

“The Third District is currently investigating a possible shooting in the area of 8th and O Streets NW. Witnesses report seeing an individual firing a weapon in the direction of an unknown individual. Responding officers have recovered a shell casing. However, no shooting victims have been located and the individual beloved to have been targeted has not come forward.

Ed. Note: A reader first reported to us at 4:31pm on Saturday: “gunshots at 8th and O? (Again?)”

Another reader reported: “I just was there. heard the shots, switched directions, then started running when I saw the masses doing the same. Police had it all shut down in minutes at least.”

And to top off the depressing news, MPD reported at 4pm on Saturday:

“Robbery Investigation in the 3100 block of 13th Street NW. Lookout for juvenile B/M, 10-11yrs old, 4’9″-5’2″ in height, wearing a beige jacket and off white pants. Last seen N/B 13th Street NW.
